The City of Gibraltar has retained the services of WCA-Assessing, LLC and they are now servicing the City. Assessor Chris Hinkle has been assigned to the City of Gibraltar.
Staffed Wednesdays 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The Assessing Department is responsible for the identification and valuation of all real and personal property within the City of Gibraltar. Personnel appraise new construction, reappraise existing construction, calculate land values, administer the principal residence exemption program, record sale data and property transfers in compliance with the all applicable statutes. New construction and plats are added to the Assessment Roll as of December 31st each year.
The Board of Review consists of four (4) residents of the City of Gibraltar. One (1) member serves as Chairperson, with two (2) serving as regular members and the fourth as an alternate, should another member not be available to serve.
After assessment notices are mailed to taxpayers of Gibraltar, the Board of Review meets on the first and third Tuesdays in March to hear assessment value appeals. After the close of the Board’s meetings in March, the assessment roll is final for the current year.
In the months of July and December, the Board holds meetings for the purpose of correcting “mutual mistakes of fact” and “clerical errors” which have occurred.
The 2026 July Board of Review meeting will convene on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall at 29450 Munro, Gibraltar, MI 48173.
All Board of Review meetings are open meetings in compliance with the “Open Meetings Act.”
