Data Center FAQ

Project Wall-I is a proposed data center project located on West Jefferson in Gibraltar at the former steel plant. Over the past several weeks, we have received questions regarding the project. To keep residents informed, the City of Gibraltar is providing updates and information on the proposed Project Wall-I data center.

● SURVEY RESULTS: Community Input on Proposed Data Center Development (Added 5/19/2026)
From 4/23/2026 – 5/7/2026, the City issued a public survey to its residents seeking input regarding the proposed Raeden data center project in the community. This survey aimed to assess public awareness, attitudes, and priorities related to a proposed data center project. Results will be used to inform planning, policy discussions, and community engagement efforts. Responses are reported in a summary form and will remain anonymous. Participation was voluntary. This survey was intended to gather community input and does not represent a final decision by the City.

● FAQ: Project Wall-I Data Center Proposal by Raeden (Updated 3/31/2026)
Utilizing information from Raeden, independent resources, and other local municipalities, this FAQ will be updated to reflect unbiased facts on data centers generally and the specific Raeden project proposed in Gibraltar. ● Economic Impact Study (Added 4/23/2026)
Raeden has provided the City with the attached economic impact study. Please note that this study includes the economic impact of both the City of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar School District.

● Data Center Development in Michigan Economic & Fiscal Impact Analysis by the Anderson Economic Group, LLC: The Anderson Economic Group, LLC analyzed the different economic impacts of different sized data centers in communities throughout Michigan. This study was not commissioned by the City of Gibraltar or Raeden.

● Wayne Forward Data Centers FAQ: Wayne County’s Sustainability & Innovation Division of their Economic Development Department compiled a list of frequently asked questions from their 43 communities to provide practical information and guidance.

● McKenna Data Center Ordinance Proposal: On March 23^rd, City Council approved the scope of work proposal for McKenna to amend the City’s zoning ordinance to create specific requirements for data centers.
