Beginning on September 1, 2024, garbage is collected by Stevens Disposal on Wednesdays. Please place your items at the curb prior to 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Beginning on August 26th, Stevens Disposal will be delivering new brown garbage cans/totes to all Gibraltar households. Please do not use these cans until September 1st.
These brown totes will have a serial number attached to its residence. If your trash can goes missing, please call City Hall.
You may still use your old blue cans! The blue cans can either be used as an additional garbage can or as a yard waste can. If using the blue can as a yard waste can, it MUST be clearly marked as YARD WASTE or COMPOST. If you do not wish to keep your old blue can, please contact City Hall for it to be collected.
If your can or lid was damaged during pick-up, please contact City Hall or Stevens Disposal at the phone numbers above for a replacement.
If you need an additional can, they are available for purchase for $100.00. Please contact City Hall or Stevens Disposal at the phone numbers above for a replacement.
The following holidays may affect garbage collection: News Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
If ones of these holidays falls on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, then collection will automatically be delayed one day and collected on THURSDAY.
If one of these holidays falls on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, then garbage collection will NOT be affected.
Yard waste will also be collected by Stevens Disposal on Wednesdays beginning April 1st through the second full week of December.
Yard waste must be in either brown paper yard waste bags or your old blue can/tote clearly marked as YARD WASTE or COMPOST. “Yard Waste” stickers are available at City Hall free of charge. No personal cans or plastic bags are allowed for yard waste. You may place up to 10 yard waste bags at your curb per week.
YARD WASTE ITEMS INCLUDE:
Grass Clippings, weeds, leaves, small twigs, pruning’s, shrub clippings, garden waste materials and fruit, old potting soil, Halloween pumpkins, dirt incidental to minor plantings or edging of lawns, brush, branches, tree trimmings, shrub clippings tied and bundled, small shrubs and bushes with the first removed from the root system, and any other material defined by law as yard clippings.
Branches must be ¼” inch or less & 4ft or less and tied in bundles. Logs must be no greater than 6” in diameter, longer than 4’ in length tied or secured with string or twine in bundles larger than 18” in diameter or weighing more than 60lbs. Anything larger can be placed aside for chipping by the DPW.
Bulk items will also be collected on Wednesdays.
Two (2) bulk items will be allowed per household per week. If you have more than 2 bulk items, please call City Hall and we will schedule a special pick-up for $10.00 per additional bulk item.
BULK ITEMS INCLUDE:
Stoves, refrigerators/freezers (must remove Freon & doors), air conditioners, mattresses (must be wrapped plastic wrap/bag – these are sold at Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) washers, dryers, water heaters, water softeners, small metal sheds, fixtures, furniture, storm doors, windows, tubs, toilets, sinks, carpets, carpet padding, railroad ties, empty propane tanks, fence posts or fences not exceeding 3’ X 8’ in dimension, and small quantity of building debris resulting form the repair or remodeling personally done by the home of occupant.

The City of Gibraltar has implemented a voluntary recycling drop off center located at Gibraltar City Hall. Funding for the recycling drop off center comes from a dedicated solid waste millage the City levies. This millage also covers the expense associated with residential trash removal and disposal services. The recycling material receptacle at this point is emptied on Mondays & Fridays.
